Overview

By working with Avnet to license your Bing Maps application for resale/Saas you will:

  • Benefit from our licensing expertise to choose the right package so you can quote your customers with confidence.
  • Be saved from all the contract admin so you can concentrate on what you do best.
  • Get the best pricing.
  • Receive a managed renewals service ensuring your service is not affected.

How should I be licensed?

Avnet will help you decide what type of license you require (Known user, Tracked Assets or Transactional) and the best way for you to obtain a license.

  • If you are an ISV or service provider, creating an application using Bing Maps, you will need a Bing Maps for Enterprise agreement.
  • If you are creating an application for your own company's use or if you require a transactional license you will need a volume license.

Licensing options

  • Volume licensing: When licensing Bing Maps for your own use volume licensing (Open, Select or Enterprise) should be used.
  • Partner Program: For Developers, ISV's and Service providers delivering applications on the Bing Maps Platform, the Bing Maps Partner program offers: license management, flexible billing, technical support and a 99.9% service

Benefits

The primary benefit of the Program is to give Licensors an easy entry point for managing Bing Maps apps, and to enable easy add-on of additional users, transactions and/or assets. Management of customer apps applies to the entire duration of the Licensor Agreement, which is paid for in arrears. Therefore, Distributors are engaged throughout the life cycle of the Bing Maps product license.

The Program supports a low upfront cost as well as flexible reporting. All agreements leverage standard terms and conveniently include an End Customer/User Minimum Terms agreement for a Licensor to leverage when selling to End Customers/Users.

What are the differences between keys (Trial, Basic and Enterprise)?

At the Bing Maps Account Center you can register for a Bing Maps account, and create a Bing Maps key to authenticate your application. For information on the three types of keys (Trial, Basic and Enterprise), please visit: http://www.microsoft.com/maps/create-a-bing-maps-key.aspx

Note: You are able to create two keys (Trial or Basic) for most application types and one additional Public Windows App Trial key under a Basic account. Trial keys expire after 90 days and cannot be converted to Basic keys. You cannot delete keys or generate more than 3 keys from this account. If you intend to create a non-trial application, make one of the keys a Basic key and read the governing TOU that defines usage limits.
